Watching ads in YouTube may be mandatory in Windows 11

Ana sayfa / Social Media

Google has been working for some time to remove ad blocking tools on YouTube. This blocking, which is still in the testing phase, forces users to either become Premium subscribers or watch ads. Finally, Microsoft Edge’s ad blocking mode is on the radar.

Edge ad blocking gives this warning on YouTube

A large number of Edge users on Windows 11 have reported that they are unable to play YouTube videos with “Strict” tracking protection enabled. According to users, the YouTube page loads, but the videos won’t play and a warning to turn off the ad blocker is displayed.

Google has not yet commented on the issue. However, Edge’s Solid viewing mode seems to be caught in the ad blocker network on YouTube.

For those who don’t know, Edge offers three levels of tracking protection: basic, balanced and strict. Strict mode, according to Microsoft, provides the most privacy, but causes some sites to warn you to turn off ad blockers. YouTube is one of these sites.

Beware of fake YouTube apps that spread malware

Fake YouTube apps targeting Android users have been found. This software reportedly turns the device into a "spying tool".

The warning appears during video playback on YouTube, urging users to disable tracking protection in Edge. It should be noted that you are entitled to a YouTube Premium subscription for an ad-free experience.

The price of Premium membership in our country is 29.99 TL/month. The annual fee is offered at 299.99 TL. As long as the ad blocker warning continues, it seems inevitable that users will switch to Premium.
